During the pre-project phase, discussions take place with the customer to clarify issues ranging from the intended purpose of the project (is the document going to be published or do you simply need to know what it says?) to the format of text and graphics (can these be edited directly or is a key required?) to delivery deadlines (is it needed yesterday?!).
